Public presentation of the Brussels declaration

Lifelong Media Education

Last December 2nd and 3rd, 300 specialists from more than 30 countries European and non-European met in Brussels for the international conference “Media Literacy for all” organized by the Higher Council for Media Education of the French-speaking Community of Belgium, within the framework of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The conference “Media Literacy for All” met together all the actors involved in the implementation of lifelong media education: educators, trainers, media industries and institutions, educational organisations (school and non-school ones), people responsible for educational policies, research institutions, etc.

This work led to the “Brussels declaration on Lifelong Media Education”, build by the Higher Board in collaboration with the 8 international experts who accompanied the conference process.

This declaration as well as a public adhesion campaign were presented to International Press Center in Brussels on March 3rd 2011, with the intervention of Frederic Delcor, General secretary of the French speaking community.
